William Shaltis is principal percussion with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, section percussion with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and consortium faculty at the University of Evansville. Prior to these appointments, Mr. Shaltis was a freelance musician in the Boston area, performing with organizations such as Boston Baroque, Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Lyric Opera, the Portland (ME) Symphony, and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra.

Mr. Shaltis' diverse performance background includes principal timpani with the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra and Capital City Brass Band, cymbals with the New England Mehterhane (a Janissary band featuring traditional Turkish music and instruments), snare drum with the Michigan State University drumline and drum set with numerous theater shows and rock bands. He was also invited to the Aspen Music Festival and School for two summers, performing with the festival and chamber orchestras.

Mr. Shaltis received a Bachelor of Music in music education from Michigan State University and a Master of Music in performance from the Boston Conservatory. His principal teachers included Alison Shaw and David Gross (MSU), and Salvatore Rabbio, Pat Hollenbeck, John Grimes, Keith Aleo, David Herbert, and Nancy Zeltsman (Boston Conservatory).
