SCHOLARSHIPS

Academic scholarships are awarded to eligible students pursuing music degrees and are based on musical talent and academic
potential. Students wishing to apply for an academic scholarship in music should:

--apply for admission to the University by February 1, declaring music as the intended major. (There is no separate application for
the Department of Music.)

--complete the Academic Scholarship portion of the Application
for Admission, indicating music as the area of academic interest.

--audition for the music faculty by March 1, 2007.

To be guaranteed consideration for scholarships and grants,  all applications and supporting materials must be completed by February 1.  Auditions must be completed by March 1.  After those dates, consideration will be made if space and scholarship funds permit.  In addition to the academic scholarships, need-based financial assistance may be available to qualified students.  To be considered for need-based awards, students should file the FAFSA by March 10.

Ensemble Participation Grant

The Ensemble Participation Grant, a $400 music scholarship for non-majors, is awarded to students pursuing other academic majors who are interested in performing in a music ensemble.  The grant is part of the aid package from the Office of Financial Aid.  The grant may be extended more than one year if the student meets all requirements of the ensemble as directed in the course syllabus.

An audition is required and must be completed by May 1 of your senior year.  Arrangements for an audition can made during a campus visit or by submission of a cassette, CD or video recording.
