Carol
Dallinger is professor
of music at the
University
of
Evansville
where she has been a member of the faculty since 1972.
She is instructor of violin Suzuki pedagogy and is founder and
coordinator of the
University
of
Evansville Suzuki Violin Program
. In 1995, Ms. Dallinger received the Outstanding Teacher Award at the
University
of
Evansville
and in May 2000 received one of three Outstanding Teacher Awards given annually
by the Dean of the
College
of
Arts
and Sciences. An active performer Ms. Dallinger has served as principal second
violinist of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra for the past 32 years and for
one season performed as Interim Concertmaster of the orchestra.
Ms. Dallinger has made solo appearances with the Evansville Philharmonic
and has performed as recitalist in various locations throughout the
United States
,
Austria
,
England and
Italy
. She is featured as solo violinist on the Everest Label recording of J.S.
Bach's Cantata No. 181 and is among the artists performing on a CD
released in November of 2000, entitled “Walking with You”, songs written by
John Streetman.
Ms. Dallinger
has lectured at both state and national music conferences and, as a registered
teacher trainer with the Suzuki Association of the
Americas
, frequently serves as clinician for summer institutes throughout the
United States
. She has also taught in
New Zealand
and
Australia
. She a former member of the
National Board of Directors of the Suzuki Association of the
Americas
and is a past-President of the Indiana String Teachers' Association.
She holds a bachelor of music in performance from
Illinois
Wesleyan
University
and a master of music in performance from the University of
Illinois-Champaign-Urbana.
Maria
Mastropaolo has been teaching
violin in the
University
of
Evansville Suzuki Program
since September of 1997. Starting
violin at the age of three, Maria grew up through the Suzuki Method.
Because of this she strongly believes in this method and Dr. Suzuki’s
philosophy that “Every child can learn”. She has a bachelor of music
in performance from the
University
of
Evansville
. Maria has received her Suzuki
Pedagogy training from teacher
trainers such as Carol Dallinger, Craig Timmerman, Tom Wermuth and Nancy Loeken.
During the summer months, she is on faculty
at the Louisville Suzuki Institute. Besides
teaching, Maria also enjoys playing in the first violin section of the
Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. She
resides in
Evansville
with her husband Gardner and their dog Bailey.
