Who Are the Friends of UE Music?

The Friends of UE Music (FUEM) was established in 1981 to foster a lifetime relationship between the Department of Music and UE music students, music graduates, parents and friends. The organization has helped fund ensemble tours to Hawaii, Russia, France, Italy and New York's Carnegie Hall and has provided funding for state-of-the-art sound equipment, new computers, new instruments, shelving for the choral library, recording sessions, and master classes taught by distinguished artists. FUEM also provides treats for the students twice a year.

In the spring of 2006, the Friends of UE Music, with assistance from the University, established an endowment fund for assistantships for music students. This year, the interest from the endowment has been used to award the first assistantships over and above financial aid. The FUEM board hopes that through fund raising and generous contributions, the endowment will grow rapidly making it possible for more and more students to be helped.
